The response was stronger than we expected, and the insights we gathered are already shaping how we think.
Two markets, very different philosophies
The most interesting thing we heard in Geneva was not feedback on our product. It was how differently MPP and dry bulk operate.
In MPP (multi-purpose project) shipping, the plans and the verification sit with the team at the shore. The vessel executes what the office signs off on with the support of port captains.
In dry bulk, the accountability lives with the master. The captain plans and signs the final loading plan. The shore team can suggest, but the captain decides.
That single distinction shapes the way our product is being built.
Building for both
Stowage Planner Bulk is, at its core, a bulk cargo planning tool. We are designing it for the two distinct ways bulk gets carried.
For MPP operators carrying bulk , the expectation is usually that the office takes the lead. The shore-side operations or cargo planning team is expected to prepare a technically sound load plan before the vessel executes it. What they need is not just a calculator, but a tool that can produce a proper bulk loading plan by considering cargo intake, hold distribution, stability, longitudinal strength, draft, trim, ballast and operational constraints together. Stowage Planner Bulk is being built for that workflow. The office uploads the cargo list, selects the vessel, defines the constraints. Verified loading arrangements come back in minutes.
Hours of manual trial and error become minutes of review.
For dry bulk operators, we are placing the captain at the centre. The shore team needs the ability to estimate, plan, and answer charterers’ technical questions quickly, but the master remains accountable for approving the final load plan. That is why Stowage Planner Bulk supports both sides of the workflow.
The office can work with the same calculation engine and ship model that powers the class-approved Loading Computer Onboard. This allows the operations team to respond faster to charterers’ queries, test cargo combinations, check feasibility, and prepare technically verified loading options before the vessel is involved.
Onboard, the captain and crew no longer build everything from scratch. They upload the cargo list, define the loading constraints, run the analysis and review the verified options generated by the system. From there, they adjust the plan where needed and approve the final loading condition with confidence.
This keeps the master's authority intact. The office and the vessel share the same technical foundation for faster and safer loading decisions.

Geneva Dry 2026 made one thing clear. The philosophies of execution in breakbulk and dry bulk are fundamentally different. That difference is rooted in where responsibility sits.
